Sometimes being the new girl is very confusing...

So...this whole 'class is cancelled due to huge, noisy jet plane leaving out of the basketball court' thing...this is normal? Cuz no one else seemed to think anything of it, and don't get me wrong, I'm not objecting to getting out of half of my classes for two days, because that was cool, but...kay. Can someone please tell me what that was all about? Cuz I'm confuzzled.
