is now open on how long it takes the Professor to get our newest arival into a teaching position.

Odds varrying according to position, with International Studies and International Buisness getting fairly standard numbers. 200 to 1 for anyone who wants to give me their money put a bet on for Gender Studies.

(Al and assorted grad students, I'm kidding. Mostly)

Heh. Let me put it this way. I'd suggest starting a betting pool on how many classes the new teacher on the block gets, too.

Hey, I want in on some of that action. Ten bucks on International Studies, and give me good odds because it might buy you a Christmas present if I win? :)

Well, okay, so I'm a real cheapskate. :) That's just half the present anyway, don't worry. I Have a Plan.

Now, when have you ever needed to worry about me having a Plan about you? ;)

I'm being maligned. Maligned and slandered. Or maybe libeled. And labeled. And probably lobeled if that was a word. And I'm going to expect a full retraction on Christmas morning. ;)

:-* right back atcha.

One dollar on Gender Studies, just because that joke is too funny for someone not to put their money down on. And for my real bet, five bucks on International Studies and Current Events each.

Statistics have no application to the real world? HAH! They have plenty to do with the real world.

And consider that $1 a contribution to Jamie's present for you. :)

You sure you don't have that the wrong way? Fixing the bets, and making up survey data? ;-)

Soon there'll be a day when there's more teachers than students.

That would be the blog enabled lot, yes. Don't forget a lot of the kids don't really use the system...

I don't think we're quite up to fifty or so on staff, yet. ;)

What, only one to two? My old school had a two to one teacher/student ratio.

Okay, technically it fluctuated anywhere between that and one to three, but even so. :)

That was when I was two. By the time Mom and Dad started homeschooling me I was the model of quiet decorum you see before you today.

A very inaccurate model?

Some settling may have occurred during shipment. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage that may have occurred to the model prior to delivery.

So, er, yes. :) But you should have seen me when I was two.

Put me down for five dollars for International Studies, with another five for myself, Piotr, Kurt and Rahne ending up having to talk in class about where we live when we aren't here.

We should have this bet include all the new people though, shouldn't we? I mean, I wouldn't want Mister Marko teaching anything, because he's completly scary, but I bet he'll end up with a shop class before summer arrives.

Mr. Marko isn't that bad, he reminds me of some of my cousins' friends in the Marines. Really gruff and particular but basically good people. And you can tell he likes taking care of this place, which is actually pretty cool.

He is a hundred times bigger than anyone I've ever seen, which makes him scary on a scale that is only equalled by Mr. Logan, who has knives in his hands.

Ah.

Ah, but I have seen Piotr wearing a silly hat, and no one is scary once you have worn a silly hat.

Maybe we should get Mr. Marko a silly hat, then.

Ooh! I know! We need to steal that bucket of Magneto's. He could tie it to the top of his head with string. Yellow string. That'd look silly. 'Course, we'd all get killed trying, so maybe we should just buy him a sombrero.

No.

Magneto has a bucket on his head?

There goes my "People in silly hats are not scary" theory. Magneto scares me senseless.

Maybe we can get Mister Marko a fez.

Weelll . . . bucketish. It's on the Internet, some guy had a camcorder on him when Magneto attacked the train station--oh, right, you were still in France. It was right before the whole thing at the Statue of Liberty, he walked out of the station with his goons into about a hundred cops, and floated all their guns at them, and flew off in a helicopter, and he had this sort of buckety looking helmet on.

You'd barely be able to see the fez on top of Mr. Marko's head, though. This is why I'm saying sombrero. Besides, a sombrero in his size would get people all freaked about UFO sightings. :)

Well, it is on the Internet, I can link you. Some of the tape's a little fuzzy from probably magnetic interference, but there are good shots of the bucket.

Probably a good thing Mr. Marko can't see about the sombrero, though, yeah, I dunno if he's figured out yet that I tease people I like.

I wonder

I wonder how many mutants end up on the internet on one of those websites that say that ghosts and sea monsters are real?

Maybe

One of those pointed hats you see in old pictures from China or Japan. I can't remember if it is China or Japan, though.

Everyone else who is here has ended up teaching. Doctor MacTaggart did, and she was just as surprised as anyone else when she found out.
